Hace unas semanas os presentábamos al artista Lee Shin Ae (이신애) más conocida como msftz (미스피츠) y hoy os presentamos la entrevista que le hicimos vía email a través de su compañía Sony Music Korea, a los que agradecemos de corazón la amabilidad y la predisposición que han tenido desde el principio.

ENTREVISTA MSFTZ [EN]
1. Q: What is the meaning behind your name, msftz?
It comes from the word ‘misfit’. I figured I’d be able to discover something new through impartial perspectives with a name like this. Even though my music misfits and people may not like my music, I want my music to be totally precious from my perspectives. That’s the meaning behind my name, ‘mfttz’.
2. Q: What was your motivation to start making music on SoundCloud as ‘Chicken97’?
Chicken was my favorite food by the time I came up with the account name and I was born in 1997. It’s a collaboration between ‘chicken’ and ‘1997’.
3. Q:What does music mean to you?
Music is a message and a medium to me. It enables me to deliver complicated emotions that I find difficult to describe verbally.
4. Q: How do you feel the Internet has impacted the music industry?
I think the internet definitely had an invigorating impact on the music industry. However, I still find it bittersweet that we now have such easy and fast access to music because we might lose opportunities to find great songs due to such convenience. For example, there are songs that become unimaginably good in the second half but we tend to swipe to the next song after making a snap judgment of the song in less than 30 seconds.
5. Q: What inspires you the most when writing a song?
I get inspired from the things I can see or do outside a monitor screen such as having a conversation, reading a book, taking a walk, etc. Things I can do or see through a monitor screen definitely have impacts on me but I don’t think they give me as much inspiration as those outside do.
6. Q: What was the hardest song you ever wrote and why?
The unreleased songs in my hard drive. I was able to finish the songs that were released because they either fit better to the taste of the listeners or were relatively easier to write.
7. Q: What expectations do you have of your future? What do you want to achieve?
I’m not really sure how to answer these questions because I tend to live life with short-term goals without making detailed plans or objectives for the future.
8. Q: What advice would you have for someone wanting to join the music industry?
If you think you love making music, don’t ever stop doing it. However, once you are officially in the industry, you will not only have to care about what others think about your music but use parts of your brain that you almost never used before. I hope you will be able to enjoy this process without getting too much stress because being stressed will only make things harder. Be aware!
9. Q: We saw that your company is Sony Music Korea, How did they contact you?
They contacted me via Instagram direct message after they found me on SoundCloud.
10. Q: How do you get along with other artists of the company? (DEMIAN, BOYCOLD, sokodomo…)
Even though I don’t get to see them too often, I’m keeping good relationships with everyone.
11. Q: Which famous musicians do you admire?
It changes almost everyday but I admire Judy Garland the most at this moment.
12. Q: We saw that you have some collabs with artists like Leellamarz, Hash Swan and so on. Tell us a little bit about what is it like to work with other artists
I always find working with other artists a lot of fun as I get to do different genres. I feel so honored that I got to make songs with such awesome artists.
13. Q: We checked that you were on MU:CON 2020, do you have any anecdotes?
I was still extremely nervous after the first song and forgot to tell media staff that I was going to drink some water. Soon, I could start hearing the second song begin through the in-ear monitor while still drinking water and I had to rush back to the mic stand and start singing.
14. Q:What is your favourite song to perform and why?
It’s really hard to tell because I haven’t had a lot of stage experience since debut. I think I will get to know once COVID19 situations get better and have more performance experience.
15. Q: We know that the music scene is hard and sometimes you could be under a lot of pressure. Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety?
I used to search for ‘How to stop being nervous’ on wikiHow a week before MU:CON. I usually have a hard time falling asleep and my body becomes cold before performance. My voice also gets shaky while speaking on stage.
16. Q: What could you tell us about your last work ‘Eternity’? What makes it different from your other works?
‘Eternity’ is my first single ever. It consists of two songs that are about thoughts I was caught up with back then such as ‘why aren’t all the good things eternal?’, ‘why would youth and love change?’ or ‘changing is bad’. Is it different from my other works? I can’t really tell.. I’m sorry. Hahaha!
17. Q:What of your songs would recommend the most to listen?
All of them! They all have different charms, so give them a listen and choose the ones you like the most.
18. Q: What is one message you would give to your fans?
I am truly grateful to my fans for showing love and listening to my music. I feel so happy every time they tell me that they love my music and that my music gives them good energy. That gives me motivation to write more songs and energy to keep going.
19. Q: What do you know about Spain? (any typical dish, singers/actors, movies, songs)
When I was young, I had a chance to listen to someone speaking Spanish and automatically fell in love with Spain. I’ve always found Spanish very charming and kept telling myself that ‘I’m going to visit Spain one day’. I even had an electronic Spanish dictionary in which I joyfully repeated after the machine. (Sadly, I can’t speak any Spanish at the moment..) Top three locations I really want to visit in Spain are Seville, Lanzarote, and Ronda. First of all, I want to visit Seville to witness the amazing architectural style of the bell towers of palaces and cathedrals. Secondly, I want to visit Lanzarote because I’ve never been to a volcanic area and I just can’t even imagine how ironically beautiful it would be with both volcanic area and beach in the same scenery. I could immediately tell that Lanzarote is my soul place as soon as I saw its photos on Google. Lastly, I’d want to go to Ronda and witness the traces of the ancestors from the Middle Ages.
20. Q: What do you find interesting about Spain? We hope to see you in Spain soon, do you want to say something to our followers?
It still feels like a dream that there are fans listening to my music in Spain. Even though we are far away from each other at this moment, I can’t wait to see you guys one day. It is quite a distance but I hope to see you guys online a lot at least. Please look forward and show love to my upcoming releases as well. Much love and many thanks.

1. P: ¿Cuál es el significado detrás de su nombre, msftz?
Viene de la palabra ‘misfit’. Pensé que sería capaz de descubrir algo nuevo a través de perspectivas imparciales con un nombre como este. A pesar de que mi música es inadaptada y puede que a la gente no le guste mi música, quiero que mi música sea totalmente valiosa desde mi perspectiva. Ese es el significado que hay detrás de mi nombre, «mfttz‘.
2. P: ¿Cuál fue tu motivación para empezar a hacer música en SoundCloud como «Chicken97′?
El pollo era mi comida favorita en el momento en que se me ocurrió el nombre de la cuenta y nací en 1997. Es una colaboración entre ‘pollo’ y ‘1997’.
3. P: ¿Qué significa la música para ti?
La música es un mensaje y un medio para mí. Me permite transmitir emociones complicadas que encuentro difíciles de describir verbalmente.
4. P: ¿Cómo cree que Internet ha impactado en la industria de la música?
Creo que Internet definitivamente tuvo un impacto vigorizante en la industria de la música. Sin embargo, todavía me parece agridulce que ahora tengamos un acceso tan fácil y rápido a la música porque podríamos perder oportunidades de encontrar grandes canciones debido a tal comodidad. Por ejemplo, hay canciones que se vuelven inimaginablemente buenas en la segunda mitad, pero tendemos a pasar a la siguiente canción después de hacer un juicio rápido de la canción en menos de 30 segundos.
5. P: ¿Qué es lo que más te inspira al escribir una canción?
Me inspiro en las cosas que puedo ver o hacer fuera de una pantalla de monitor como tener una conversación, leer un libro, dar un paseo, etc. Las cosas que puedo hacer o ver a través de una pantalla de monitor definitivamente tienen un impacto en mí, pero no creo que me den tanta inspiración como los de fuera.
6. P: ¿Cuál fue la canción más difícil que escribiste y por qué?
Las canciones inéditas en mi disco duro. Pude terminar las canciones que se lanzaron porque encajaban mejor con el gusto de los oyentes o eran relativamente más fáciles de escribir.
7. P: ¿Qué expectativas tienes de tu futuro? ¿Qué quieres lograr?
No estoy muy seguro de cómo responder a estas preguntas porque tiendo a vivir la vida con metas a corto plazo sin hacer planes detallados u objetivos para el futuro.
8. P: ¿Qué consejo tendrías para alguien que quiere unirse a la industria de la música?
Si crees que te gusta hacer música, nunca dejes de hacerlo. Sin embargo, una vez que estés oficialmente en la industria, no solo tendrás que preocuparte por lo que otros piensen de tu música, sino que también usarás partes de tu cerebro que casi nunca habías usado antes. Espero que usted será capaz de disfrutar de este proceso sin obtener demasiado estrés, porque estar estresado sólo hará las cosas más difíciles. ¡Tenga en cuenta!
9. P: Vimos que su empresa es Sony Music Korea, ¿Cómo se pusieron en contacto con usted?
Me contactaron a través de un mensaje directo de Instagram después de encontrarme en SoundCloud.
10. P: ¿Cómo te llevas con otros artistas de la compañía? (DEMIAN, BOYCOLD, sokodomo…)
Aunque no los veo muy a menudo, mantengo buenas relaciones con todos.
11. P: ¿Qué músicos famosos admiras?
Cambia casi todos los días, pero admiro más a Judy Garland en este momento.
12. P: Vimos que tienes algunos collares con artistas como Leellamarz, Hash Swan y así sucesivamente. Cuéntanos un poco sobre cómo es trabajar con otros artistas
Siempre me resulta muy divertido trabajar con otros artistas a medida que voy haciendo diferentes géneros. Me siento tan honrado de poder hacer canciones con artistas tan increíbles.
13. P: Comprobamos que estuvierais en MU:CON 2020, ¿tenéis anécdotas?
Todavía estaba muy nervioso después de la primera canción y olvidé decirle al personal de los medios que iba a beber un poco de agua. Pronto, pude empezar a escuchar la segunda canción a través del monitor de oído mientras aún bebía agua y tuve que volver corriendo al micrófono y empezar a cantar.
14. P: ¿Cuál es tu canción favorita para interpretar y por qué?
Es muy difícil de decir porque no he tenido mucha experiencia escénica desde el debut. Creo que llegaré a conocer una vez que las situaciones de COVID19 mejoren y tengan más experiencia en el rendimiento.
15. P: Sabemos que la escena musical es dura y que a veces podrías estar bajo mucha presión. ¿Alguna vez has tratado con la ansiedad por el rendimiento?
Solía buscar ‘Cómo dejar de estar nervioso’ en wikipedia cómo una semana antes de MU:CON. Normalmente me cuesta conciliar el sueño y mi cuerpo se enfría antes de la actuación. Mi voz también se tambalea mientras hablo en el escenario.
16. P: ¿Qué podrías decirnos acerca de tu último trabajo, «Eternity’? ¿Qué lo hace diferente de tus otras obras? «.
‘Eternity‘ es mi primer single. Consiste en dos canciones que tratan sobre pensamientos con los que estaba atrapado en aquel entonces, como por ejemplo, ¿por qué no son eternas todas las cosas buenas? ‘, ‘¿por qué cambiaría la juventud y el amor? ‘ o » cambiar es malo‘. ¿Es diferente de mis otras obras? Realmente no puedo decir.. Lo siento. ¡Hahaha!
17. P: ¿Cuál de tus canciones recomendarías más para escuchar?
¡Todas! Todos tienen encantos diferentes, así que escúchalos y elige los que más te gusten.
18. P: ¿Qué mensaje le darías a tus fans?
Estoy muy agradecido a mis fans por mostrar amor y escuchar mi música. Me siento tan feliz cada vez que me dicen que aman mi música y que mi música les da buena energía. Eso me da motivación para escribir más canciones y energía para seguir adelante.
19. P: ¿Qué sabes de España? (cualquier plato típico, cantantes/actores, películas, canciones)
Cuando era joven, tuve la oportunidad de escuchar a alguien que hablaba español y automáticamente me enamoré de España. Siempre me ha parecido encantador el español y me decía a mí mismo que un día voy a visitar España. Incluso tenía un diccionario electrónico de español en el que repetía alegremente después de la máquina. (Lamentablemente, no puedo hablar español en este momento..)
Los tres mejores lugares que realmente quiero visitar en España son Sevilla, Lanzarote y Ronda.
En primer lugar, quiero visitar Sevilla para presenciar el increíble estilo arquitectónico de los campanarios de palacios y catedrales.
En segundo lugar, quiero visitar Lanzarote porque nunca he estado en una zona volcánica y simplemente no puedo imaginar lo irónicamente hermoso que sería tanto con la zona volcánica como la playa en el mismo escenario. Me di cuenta inmediatamente de que Lanzarote es mi lugar del alma tan pronto como vi sus fotos en Google.
Por último, me gustaría ir a Ronda y presenciar las huellas de los antepasados de la Edad Media.
20. P: ¿Qué te parece interesante de España? Esperamos verte pronto en España, ¿quieres decir algo a nuestros seguidores?
Todavía se siente como un sueño que haya fans escuchando mi música en España. A pesar de que estamos muy lejos el uno del otro en este momento, no puedo esperar a verlos un día. Está bastante lejos, pero espero veros al menos mucho en línea. Por favor, mirad hacia adelante y mostrar amor a mis próximos lanzamientos también. Mucho amor y muchas gracias.

La cantante hace su regreso con su nuevo sencillo ‘Antigravity’ el cual contiene dos temas, ‘Facetime, Face me’ y ‘Osmotic pressure’.
La canción principal ‘Facetime, Face me’ nos deja ver el lado sensible que caracteriza a msftz. Es un tema que directamente te traslada a un ‘mood’ relajante y con el que te dejas llevar por su cálida voz mientras nos cuenta una historia triste que podemos apreciarla al leer los subtítulos del mv oficial.
